Learn about the issues I regularly advocate for and the priorities that are important to me. I carry your voice to the Hill and am always delighted to hear your recommendations.

Gun control

One of the issues that affects us most is safety. In our ambition to make all Canadians safer, we want to take a strong stand against gun violence. Bill C-21 is a historic step in that direction, and puts a national stop to handguns. This is a priority that I work on every day. As a Montrealer and a young mother, I am and will always be personally committed to building a safer society for all. We owe it to ourselves to fight against the insecurity that reigns in our cities. I refuse to accept that one should fear for their life while walking in public space, or that one should risk being shot because one is a woman. There are too many gun-related tragedies, and it is high time we put an end to them. Thoughts and prayers are no longer enough.

Protect the environment

Canadians deserve a healthy environment. It is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment, to preserve the purity of our atmosphere, the diversity of life on Earth, its ecosystems and its limited resources. This is an issue that unites Canadians and to which I am committed. It is my duty as a citizen, as a mother and as a Member of Parliament to ensure that we create cleaner, more ecologically responsible communities for the generations that follow us. The federal government has long worked towards a greener future, implementing concrete solutions to reduce pollution in Canada, and is investing in ecological innovation for a green transition with ambitious measures. Together, we will make Canada a world leader in sustainable development and combat the threat of global warming because that is what Canadians want.

Affordability

For many Canadian families, it is becoming increasingly difficult to make ends meet with the inflation that our country is experiencing and the increases in rent and grocery prices. The global context has had an impact on the affordability of life for Canadians. I fully recognize the difficulties that many families face and I am actively working to combat these new issues. The right to live with dignity should be within the reach of Canadian families, that is what the federal government believes. Always listening to our fellow citizens, we are committed to providing more support for Canadian families, workers, youth and seniors, such as increasing the federal minimum hourly wage and extending Employment Insurance sickness benefits. We are committed to putting more money back into the pockets of Canadians, and we always will be.
